Artist Statement.

Wesley Osoro works hard to produce paintings that speak to him and other people about the beauty of Kibera. This is because his ideas evolve around Kibera. What people know and talk about Kibera is negative. Things like poor drainage, poverty, poor health and education, and more. His paintings focus on real stories about Kibera settlements and the real-life situations of the people. He paints Kibera in a different narrative that will make people see the positive things about it and he achieves this by using different styles.

He uses bright colors on Kibera structures as opposed to the original brown sheets characteristic of the Kibera settlement. The more colorful, the more beautiful they will be viewed by the outside world. Something that communicates the hope he has about this home. He also tries to make them detailed so that people can see real life. Wesley sees Kibera as a home of champions and talents because through all this struggle he has been able to discover himself.

Artist Biography.

Wesley Osoro was born and brought up in the slum of Kibera and he has been doing it since he was a young kid. Art has played a great role from the moment that he realized that he had a talent. And that he could sell art and pay his high school fees and campus. At the moment he does art full-time and uses acrylic on canvas. His paintings and creations try to give out the best caption that is never caught on camera. Wesley’s work tells stories of the kiberian community, and he wants to achieve positively in all his pieces about this community. Like art, fashion, Football, Education, daily life, and other great talents. Wesley aspires to become a professional artist, build a successful art career, sustain his art career, and have an individual exhibition to market his art pieces. To become a role model to the young kids that are trying to join the art world.
