Artist Biography.
Uduak-obong Dan Tony is a phenomenal artist from Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. Born and raised in Ini Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state. He is a Bachelor of Art (Hons.) degree holder from the prestigious University of Uyo Art school, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Uduak-obong Dan always feels genuine to develop paintings that speak both to him and to others about the existence of aesthetics in African culture and the perceptions of the society He lives in. He sees his art as a way to resuscitate long-forgotten culture and to give voice to both the disabled and the able people who can’t express themselves due to the fear of the unknown.
The fear of being stigmatized, etc. Uduak-obong Dan does not limit himself to one medium. Dan uses acrylic, oil, and charcoal as a means of expressing himself. And the inclusion of Nsibidi motifs on the clothes like mirror, love, congress, journey, speech, etc. to communicate in the native tongue to show how Africans (the Ibibio) see themselves. Uduak-obong Dan has participated in numerous group exhibitions around Nigeria including:
