Afrikan Beauties (Series).
This is a collection of 10 portraits that depict the African persona at its rarest. When you see these pieces you might want to ask, Why are they dressed in colonial attire? We are required to probe within and answer a pivotal question. Are we still enslaved? It has become imperative for us to question whether as African people, with our traditional attire, why do we still seek to impress the West. In attire, language, and lifestyle. This body of work takes us back and reminds us of where we come from and where we seek to go. These paintings show represent the beauty of Africans. How black is never and will never be seconded. We possess beauty beyond our tribulations. In our lifetime there is one thing we should know for sure. It’s better to be you than to be somebody else. You have to embrace love from within. We must first love ourselves and always remember that the courage in being black makes us more than human, we are magic.
