Strong Black Woman.
This piece was done as a protest against ‘RAPE’ which was rampant during the pandemic lockdown, in 2020 in my country Nigeria. Being a female and knowing very well how difficult it is to get over such a traumatic situation. Is it the endless insults or the endless pointing of fingers? The blame just never ends. I dedicated this piece to the females that were victims of the incident and the mothers that lost their children. They were the strongest during such a difficult time. The pregnant lady with the African map as her hair shows the abused woman carrying the weight of the burden of Africa. The burden and accusations of the society despite being the victim. The single woman by the side shows the strong, confident woman who has been able to release those burdens and still stand tall regardless of society’s narrative of her.
