Artist Statement.

As an artist, I work hard to develop paintings that speak the mind of the people. Both to me and others about the beauty of art and how important art is. My paintings have been a medium to show to the global community the world that the lives of the blacks truly matter without mincing words. Ordinarily, as an artist, I do not want to create art with my brushes, but with colorful, motifs, strokes, and care, to give society life once again. My work is created to promote, invoke, awake and bring back to life some forgotten cultures so that their inventions, ideas, lifestyle, and designs are displayed on my canvas. My artwork speaks not for me alone, but for the voice of the muted echo.

Artist Bio.

My name is Obidare Hezekiah Oyejide, born on the 11th of August 1995. I’m a Nigerian visual artist whose artwork is based on painting in all mediums but majorly on oil paint and acrylic paint. My work is created with paint and the aim of it feels to the universe that black lives matter. As they say that an artist can never grow beyond his environment. Because that is where he lives/living life for every human, is germane, but for artists and creative it is quintessential and beyond essential. Growing up literally with no spoon in my mouth, my environment is that of the trenches, yet, I’ve been passionate about making artworks because I’m art on my own. My background and where I grew up discourage a lot about art. But I summon courage a lot about art and work on any available materials.

After my secondary school education in 2012, I proceed to a tertiary institution, ADEYEMI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ONDO. This institution is revered for education and art. For this zit was the esteemed position as the foremost and most prominent college of education in Sub-Saharan Africa. I upped my skills in painting from this institution, and my involvement in seminars, conferences, and art exhibitions. Been fortunate to participate in many exhibitions in my life as a skilled artist. In 2017, I was at the victory art exhibition, LASGIDI art exhibition Lagos, in 2021. To buttress the fact that I’m art myself, I’m a music freak. Music is another art that keeps me going whenever I’m painting. Drawing my muse from everything “black “, No! not the color, but the people. Speaking through my paintings about the everyday realities of my people.
