Sunday Evenings.
This work reflects on my childhood experience. Growing up, I witnessed my mother attending language meetings with other women from our ethnic group. These monthly gatherings were held on Sunday evenings and were always a source of excitement for us kids. As my mother would return home with fizzy drinks and snacks. The purpose of these meetings was to promote unity among individuals from the same ethnic group who find themselves in a different community far from home. Monetary contributions were made so as to assist one another. Tribal meetings are a common cultural practice among African tribes. Whenever I come across images or depictions of such events, it takes me down memory lane and reminds me of the sense of community and togetherness that these gatherings fostered. This work is just a reflection of the significance of cultural practices and the need to preserve them for future generations.
