“IN CHAINS”.

We can’t talk about African history and not talk about the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade
We were taken out of the motherland, sold to merchantships
Paraded like a commodity
Chained, brutalized, ridiculed and made to face unknown in foreign lands.
We were used as tools to build their lands

Slavery became abolished but it took another turn – Colonialism.
Yes! We were colonized in the motherland
This time, humans are not being taken out to be sold to the merchant ships
It became our natural resources
We lived amidst plenty but kept begging

Colonialism was ended but it was never ended
It was rebranded into a MODERN form called Neo-colonialism
One way or the other, we are still in chains,
Every soul has a bright future and glowing glory, don’t kill the light of others, save a brother/sister
Our future is still being decided by external powers.
