Mystery of freedom.
The cage is despaired,
the day a bird learns
how to flap its wings
above the twines of its fetters
Same way, a Christmas cock
crows “hallelujah” thunderously
in its own language
the day it escapes
from the harsh death of knife
Such is the life of a man
whose life chronicles bitterness & buts
from all dawn to dusk
but wakes another day
to touch his eyes with joy
which cometh in the morning
like that of Jabez – the blessed.
