A space in the darkness.
A space in the darkness
Adeoye Hassan
A sorrowful war of the soul
How I wish I could write or say
About the journey that dwells in the deepness of the darkness
No, it’s a story
A reflection of me
From the days of our street
In the struggle of the heart
Fighting against the odds
On a path build on the reddish of the coals
There walk the bare foot of ours
Oh, what a painful experience
From dawn to dusk
The heart pours
For no delight in the cruelty hand of the darkness
But from now on, I may be free
The soul, you may not see
The voice, you may not hear
Like the sail on a silent ocean
Like the fade of the smoke in the air
So the journey without traces ✍️
“Dawn to dusk.” In today’s society, many may not believe men face serious challenges. The male gender role itself is a challenge for men in society today. To your eyes, it might be viewed to be big or small, but every challenge we face tends to constantly add heartaches, headaches, and more pressures to our lives. From dawn to dusk, ranging from violence, diseases, fatherhood, and relationship problems. Emotional literacy as men, culturally, we are not encouraged to pursue emotional development. Men must start defining their issues and find their voice, however, we face many obstacles that society throws at us every time. We are of value only when we perform. We have to prove ourselves to women and should feel lucky if a woman wants us. The need to find a language to describe our own experience. It is high time we talk on the challenges we face, it is our responsibility as men to fulfill that quest.
