Artist Statement.
“In a world where mind, and empathy can negatively change at a time, I choose my art as a tone vehicle that allows your thoughts, feelings flow free. My painting was like watery mud that split in different directions whenever stepping on it. So, my art split touching me and whosoever engaged in the different or same perspective. African motive pattern inspired, I decided to showcase my uniqueness in culture and beautification of African motive pattern. My goals are to let it be appreciated and add more value to it through my work (style). I work with acrylic on canvas, I like to capture the feelings of African ladies, and their posture allows me to express myself with different ideas.”

The ability helped him to spend 60% of his daily basis on drawing. David Opeyemi Aremu draws both shapes and figures that illustrate inside his English textbook. HB pencil was only my medium then. His brother was the first to discover him and he discussed it with his mother to let him learn the art. She agreed to let him undergo informal training. The agreement will run for six (6) years to train because he was young. Going to the shop afternoon after school was his daily routine, except Sunday. But after several years as an apprentice, he got the freedom to have his workshop.
David Opeyemi Aremu moved to Lagos in 2020 after getting admitted to Lagos state polytechnic to obtain his ordinary national diploma (OND) In art and industrial design. Specializing in different areas of art. Currently, his year in poly was massively incredible with seniors, specializing in painting for the fact that they tint dark to lighter, and tone light to darker, which makes him at ease. Opeyemi got much more attractive in painting than in any area of specialization. It makes him realize and understood how power and empathy can break through the canvas.
