The painting by Israel Agboola Oladapo illustrates a dark history.

My skin, My story.

The eyes tell the pain and struggles.
As blacks or white.
We might look cool, dress fly, and dance but it doesn’t deny the fact that we carry our pain hidden in us.
That’s our struggle that we have to carry.
And the skin, the lines created by the pallet knife shows the rough journeys and dark history, that we’ve been through as humans generally.
But we overcame it, that we’re healed by people around us!
The looks on my face show the eagerness or anxiousness to see what more life has to throw at me because I’m in for it!
My skin tells my story and history!
The solemn peace we are embracing despite the struggle and despair.
