Cognitive dissonance (Women On High Heels Series).
To me, this painting is more than a painting, when I look at this picture it speaks to me. I went to visit my mum back home then an idea came to my mind, why don’t I paint my mother? So I took my camera out and told her I want to take some pictures for my painting projects. At first, she disagreed, she told me she needed to take a shower first and change her clothes. And I was like no, I depict daily life, this is your daily life I’m not taking a picture of you after showering and changing clothes. She had prepared a small meal for us as we were talking. I had finished my food, she was still eating and she didn’t want a picture of her eating. So we continued talking then I realized she had a mix feelings. Even though she gave a little smiley face, I felt like she was tackling a lot because she was full of thoughts, maybe it was the family issues or poverty, or not being able to take care of her family.
