An African woman tends to be a balance of intelligence, talent, and beauty. They leave the world in awe of them due to their strong will, gorgeous hair, impeccable skin, and their personality. They have a beauty of their own, comfortable in their skin excluding confidence from head to toe. In all aspects, they all have redefined the word “beautiful” with their exemplary bold and confident traits. They are the epitome of beauty and strength. It is disheartening that even in this 21 century, they are still seen as objects to be dominated controlled, and of mere sex. As an African woman, I’m more than strong. At times, weak, anxious, lonely, and afraid, to be one often comes with some special sets of concerns. We want to be beautiful without only being beautiful, to be seen without being hypervisible, to be intelligent and make a difference. We have endured, we have overcome, we have transcended.
